Every time I return to Victoria, I make sure to stop by Good Things Consignment. They have an extensive collection of items, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. I’ve consistently found great deals there. In the past, I’ve purchased beautiful Turkish kilims ,Persian carpets and Victorian porcelain tea sets.

I was in there today and I’ve been in there many times before. Today, I wanted to see the glass case where they keep pens, pencils, inks, etc., however a customer was standing in front of the case so I waited. He and the male clerk /owner? shown in my photo we’re discussing real estate, so I hovered about looking at other items waiting for them to finish. Eventually, their voices became louder and then they tried outdoing each other citing their degrees. One had a Masters, but the other had a Ph.D., and on and on it went. I couldn’t believe how unprofessional this was becoming in full earshot of all the customers and staff. I asked one older female clerk if I could see a bottle of ink and as she and I bent down to look in the cabinet, neither man moved. You would think the male employee would have realized how unprofessional all of this was, but no. I finally put the ink down on the counter and left. As I walked through the door another lady asked if I’d heard the two men arguing, to which I replied, I think everyone in the shop did. She countered that if they both had such high degrees why would they be arguing over a conversation outdoing each other. I fully agreed with her. I’ve always found the staff in this place cold and unfriendly but today sealed the deal. Absolutely unacceptable behaviour. I won’t be back.

Quaint little store located near Oak Bay, very clearly catering inventory and goods to the types of folk that live in Oak Bay.
Very friendly staff, seemed to have a lot of regulars who come in and chat.
Super cool collection of vintage furniture and knickknacks, but upon driving down from Langford to see what was available and walking in, I knew I had spent more on gas than I would on anything in the store.

TL;DR cute store but not much in it for anyone under 60

Pretty nice kind seems like a higher end, clean thrift store. They wouldn’t let me take photos inside the store. They carry a range of dishes including vintage, mid century and older. They say their stock changes often so they don’t bother with images on the web site. But I mentioned to them it’s tough to know if I want to go there when all you see on the site is text. That’s annoying about this business. There really wasn’t much furniture for sale which is what I wanted.

One of the frustrating things about consigning here is how arbitrarily they handle accepting items. I was dealing with one person who shoved away items as "we don't take those" and the other worker saying "we could take that." It was annoying because the web site has absolutely no guidelines such as "only porcelain china" whereas what I brought in was higher end vintage china. I would have sorted accordingly if they had these guidelines, however rough, posted online. I feel that my time is not respected when I have to box, truck, stand in line waiting for my appointment, go through their arbitrary take / reject process, get rushed though packing rejects, truck it back home where I'll list online. It doesn't take a lot of effort on their part to put the info up on the web site.

Very nice and clean. Staff superfriendly. The only thing is it's very expensive for me😒
