Recently, our laptop started freezing up, and we were unable to access any of our photos, right when we needed them for an upcoming celebration of life. The team at DTI made our situation a priority, diagnosing and repairing a faulty disc with next day service, allowing us to access the photos we needed for this important event. Thank you to Stacy for all his help on a very short notice phone call. Needed some major help getting a laptop upgraded for my husband’s school & he invested time to take a look at the laptop we had. He offered to invest his personal time over night so my husband could have it for school the next day. Stacy confirmed we weren’t able to do anything with the current laptop, but had something available right away for us to purchase right within our budget. Excellent customer service that went above & beyond. Will continue to go there for any computer/technical assistance. Can’t thank Stacy enough! I will highly recommend DTI to anyone. Not happy leaving this negative review. Was always happy with their service at their Quada St. location so took my laptop all the way out to their Island Highway location to get the connection repaired. I had used it without a battery the past two years, then the power cord became loose in the jack so the laptop would shut down when bumped. I determined it was the laptop connection inside that was broken but I brought the chord as well to DTI so they would know themselves.

I'm a senior with mobility issues. I paid someone to drive me out to DTI on Island Highway. DTI didn't seem to understand my description of it shutting down, so I took the work order instruction sheet and wrote on it myself to "check for faulty power connection." I told them I thought the jack was broken. From the laptop repeatedly shutting down, it had troubled the hard drive and I had left it on a repair screen.

When I picked it up, I was confused at what I was told, that the laptop shutting down was because of the hard drive failing and if it happened again, I would definitely need a new hard drive. I asked them, did they fix the faulty connection They said they had it plugged in all day and it was working fine for them. After another minute of trying to understand what I had paid $66 for, I left, still confused, and took my laptop home, where the first time the laptop got nudged, it shut down again.

I complained to Stacey who came and picked up my laptop to see what was going on. I told him to check the work order where I had personally wrote, out of frustration, to check the power connection.

End result, I'm out $91 and my laptop is still broken. Stacey said his going to the trouble of picking it up and dropping it off should be worth something. BUT, he had told me previously he now often did this to keep his downtown customers, so it was not a special service provided just me, AND, he only went through this trouble because his business failed to address my concern in the first place, this after I made a point of writing it down for them myself.

Stacey also told me they always charge $66 (inc. tax) just to look at your laptop. So, I also have a problem not being told this when I first phoned them to inquire before I went to the trouble of bringing it down there in the first place. They should have been upfront and said for $66 they'd be happy to check it out for me.

End result, I'm now out $66 + $20 I paid someone to drive me out to drop it off + $5 bus fare to pick it up, a total of $91 and almost 3 hrs travel time. I was also left without my laptop at least another 3 days before, despite my numerous messages left, I finally heard from Stacey that yes, they agreed the jack was broken and he needed another $200 to fix it.

This senior on a limited income feels disrespected and taken advantage of because of:
1. not being told upfront on the phone about their minimum fee
2. not being told upfront on the phone, when specifically asked, how much it would cost to repair a jack. This is not a huge mystery to a business whose job it is to make these repairs every day. At the very least, they could have advised it would require a $139 saudering fee plus the cost of the jack, $40+.
3. not having the problem I described and specifically wrote out, looked at in the first place
4. being eroneously advised my hard drive was the source of the problem when it was more a symptom of my laptop being repeatedly unplugged and plugged back in again due to the faulty connection
5. having been inconvenienced 3 more days before being told what I knew before contacting DTI, that I needed a new jack.

This is the 2nd time I've taken my laptop to these guys. While they were troubleshooting the issues with my laptop, they kept me posted on each step. In the end, I needed a new motherboard...and they advised it would be cheaper to buy a new laptop. They didn't charge me anything for their time. They spent a lot of time on my laptop...They offered to transfer my data when I got a new laptop in the future. They did this efficiently. Highly recommend DTI Computers

Don't be put off by the look of the building or the cluttered interior! These guys are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable - a great little spot for all your computer or phone issues. Prices are very reasonable. They also get things done quickly. I highly recommend this place.

Sorry folks but I advise caution on this one...replace notebook screen..."No problem..have it ready Wednesday" I went in today....almost 1 week in shop...not done. Found it in a pile of other jobs to be done. Frankly I don't do business with such bad service as my notebook was needed, today "Wednesday" for work. The fellow kept yapping at me I just want my notebook back.l and put the door thank you! Got home to some message...are you kidding me..hit the block button, walk away, share my true experience...End of story and I leave it to my readers to decide!

I regrettably feel the need to share my experience and a negative review. I have been a customer with DTI Computers since 2015, and throughout that time until last August, all my interactions and transactions were incredibly positive. Unfortunately, in August of 2022 I ordered a back cover for my dell laptop which cost 77.28 dollars, which I payed for upfront, and was told would ship and arrive within 3-4 weeks. This was not the case, and at the end of September I contacted Stacey to no response, and had to call directly in order to get a response, where I was assured they would figure out what happened to the case and would get back to me. This was not what happened, and I continued emailing to no reply, and had to call time after time, being assured that the product was being taken care of. Finally, last week I asked for a refund by phone, and once again was told I would be contacted, and again had to to follow up myself, this time in person, as I was told by phone that I would not be able to receive e-transfer and would have to come in person to receive my money. When I did arrive in person, I was told that I could in fact receive e transfer, and when transferring the money directly to my debit card did not work, I was told I would receive an e-transfer in the next 24 hours. This has not happened. I am hoping that leaving this review will lead to me receiving my money, but DTI Computers has still lost a costumer regardless.
